According to a report, a man was arrested this week after police filed criminal charges against him. The charges are reportedly stemming from allegations that the man tortured a young girl that he know. It isn't clear exactly what the formal charges are or why the man was being investigated, but police say that the man was arrested in Milwaukee after disappearing shortly after charges were filed.

This case received some media attention, and this attention can sometimes make it difficult for a person to receive a fair trial. These charges are especially serious, and could result in a person serving significant prison time as well as severe damage to their reputation.

Those who are accused of a severe crime should understand their rights.
A man in Milwaukee County was arrested late last month and accused of operating while intoxicated. This was the man's fourth arrest for drunk driving, so he now faces a felony drunk driving charge in Milwaukee. After a certain number of drunk driving convictions, or depending on the person's alleged blood alcohol content, they could face felony charges after a drunk driving arrest.

Police made a traffic stop in this case, after reportedly receiving information about a possible drunk driver. The man was asked questions by the police officer that stopped him. He reportedly told the officer that he had a beer earlier, but police say he had a 0.20 blood alcohol content in a chemical test.

Chemical tests can sometimes be controversial. Depending on the test, the results might be unreliable. Testing equipment must be working properly, and many times proper maintenance on these pieces of equipment can go unnoticed.

It is important that this equipment is working properly because drunk driving charges can have very real implications on a person's life. In this case, the man who was arrested might face up to 13 years in prison if he is convicted of the felony drunk driving charge and other charges related to the traffic stop in the Milwaukee area.

Speaking with an experienced criminal defense attorney in Milwaukee might be a wise decision for anyone facing multiple OWI or DUI charges. They can help a person ensure their rights are protected and work to form a rigorous criminal defense.

Source: Patch, "4th Drunken Driving Arrest in 5 Years for Milwaukee Man," Adam W.
Police responded to a reported shooting earlier this week. The Milwaukee police department is saying that a man was shot and killed during a drug transaction on Tuesday night. Many details of the incident are still unknown. However, police say a 16-years-old boy was arrested and the case had been referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney.

When a case is referred to a prosecutor, they will start to build a case against a person that they believed committed a crime. Reports on the incident don't indicate whether the boy who was arrested was charged with a homicide or other crime, but it could be possible that authorities are gathering evidence in order to build a case against someone.

A homicide charge in Milwaukee could lead to a very lengthy trial, and harsh interrogations by authorities. Someone who is arrested for an alleged crime might be wise to speak with a Milwaukee area criminal defense attorney. They can help the person understand their rights and work to form a rigorous defense.

Sometimes police will collect evidence improperly, or they will violate the accused person's rights in another way. This could result in the person not being able to receive a fair trial. An attorney can help evaluate how police and investigators handled the case and make sure no rights of the accused were violated.

If a person's rights were violated, charges against the person could be dropped or reduced. When a person is killed in an incident, police will rigorously pursue charges against a person so it is important that the accused has a rigorous defense.

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "West Allis man was killed during drug transaction police say," Ashley Luthern, May 9, 2013

When someone is arrested and convicted of a crime, they might face more severe charges if they are arrested for a similar crime in the future, and those charges could result in increased penalties. A Milwaukee woman was arrested late last month and now faces felony drunk driving charges after police allegedly received a call about a driver that nearly hit a parked car.

She was subjected to field sobriety tests, which often test coordination, and might not always be an indication of a person's ability to drive. She was read information about her rights, and after initially consenting to a blood test to check her blood alcohol content she refused. A warrant was obtained and she submitted to the test.

Police will often ask people to perform certain tests that can help them establish cause for arresting a person. They may then ask a person to submit to further testing. These tests might be used to help convict a person of a crime, and it is important that people understand their rights before answering questions or submitting to tests by authorities.

The woman reportedly has three past convictions for drunk driving. Because one of the convictions was within the last five years, she will face felony charges in the case currently being pursued against her. If a person is convicted of a felony, they usually face extended periods of time in jail or prison and could pay large fines. Speaking with a Milwaukee attorney after an arrest for felony drunk driving might be a wise decision.

Source: Fox 6, "37-year-old Milwaukee woman arrested for 4th OWI,"Trisha Bee, April 24, 2013

The owner of a Milwaukee area daycare was arrested this week after authorities say sexual abuse occurred between two children at the center. Although the woman is not accused of committing a sexual act against a child, she is accused of covering up the abuse that was allegedly committed at her daycare.

These accusations can be very serious. People who are arrested for sex crimes in the Milwaukee area could suffer severe damage to their reputation. In a case such as this one, a person might be accused of a crime of covering up abuse, even if they didn't actually know the abuse had occurred.

When a person is convicted of a crime, they might have the option to appeal their case. These appeals can be dependent on a number of things, including what happened in their first case. Sometimes a person's evidence in a case is ignored, or not allowed into the court case, when it should have been. This can be a reason for an appeal.

A recent case involving a Milwaukee man who was convicted of sexual assault was recently overturned. The appeals court said that the man's prior consensual sexual contact with the woman should have been allowed to be heard by the jury. The man was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2011. He will now receive a new trial.

Cases involving sexual assault in Milwaukee require sensitivity. It is important to recognize the emotions that come with cases like this. However, it is equally important that a person who is accused of a severe crime, and might face years in prison, has a chance to defend themselves and receives a fair trial.

In some cases, a person's rights might be violated, or they might not receive a fair trial for a reason such as not being able to submit evidence that should have been submitted to the trial. An experienced criminal defense attorney in Milwaukee can help a person understand their rights and help them work through their trial. If a person is convicted, an attorney can help the person appeal the decision, in hopes of overturning the conviction or reducing the sentence.

Drunk driving is a very serious allegation. When a person is arrested for drunk driving, their name will be released to the public, even before they have a trial to face the accusations. This means, the person could face damage to their reputation in their job and in their personal life.

According to reports, Milwaukee Brewers player Yovani Gallardo was arrested for allegedly drunk driving in Milwaukee last week. The police that pulled him over said he failed field sobriety tests near the Miller Park playing field of the Brewers, and had a blood alcohol concentration of .22. The legal blood alcohol content limit in Wisconsin is .08.

While this case involves a person with a high public profile, many people in Wisconsin face drunk driving charges. Laws in Wisconsin might help people who are having difficulty dealing with alcohol dependency. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help a person in the Milwaukee area understand their rights after an arrest for drunk driving allegations, and work to form a rigorous criminal defense.

An attorney can also help a person seek the help that they need for dependency, potentially in place of a jail sentence. In some cases people who are arrested for drunk driving don't have a dependency issue, but maybe made a mistake while driving that quickly escalated into more severe charges. Making sure all test equipment is working properly for blood alcohol tests and ensuring police followed proper procedures during an arrest can help the person form a rigorous defense.

Police made a traffic stop in another state this week. Two people were arrested during the stop and Reese Witherspoon and her husband were the people who were reportedly arrested. News reports indicate that Witherspoon may have tried speaking to police to convince them to let her husband go without arrest. Instead of letting her husband go, police arrested both of them, charging Witherspoon with disorderly conduct and her husband with DUI.

When a person is being questioned by police, it is important that they understand their rights, but also respect police to limit the charges a person might face. If a person is being questioned by police they might want to consult with an attorney to help understand what types of questions they should or should not answer.

During a drunk driving arrest, police might use certain techniques to try to get a person to tell them how many drinks they have had, or get them to admit guilt in some way. A person should be well aware of their rights before answering questions.

If a passenger is also arrested, they likely won't face drunk driving charges but could face disorderly conduct charges or be accused of other crimes. Our Milwaukee law firm can help a person understand their rights after an arrest and work with the person to form a rigorous criminal defense. This defense can be extremely important as a person's arrest can result in problems with their employment, housing situation and personal life.

When a person is arrested, they might hear police tell them that they have the right to remain silent. However, sometimes before police arrest or charge a person, they question the person. This is because police might not have enough information to make an arrest but they think that a person might be connected to a crime. If a person decides that they don't want to talk with police or answer their questions, is this a sign that they might be guilty?

That is the question that a recent Supreme Court case will try to address. The case involves a man who was being questioned by police, even though he hadn't yet been charged, but he refused to answer a question which could have helped the prosecution convict the man. During the man's trial, the prosecutor pointed out the man's unwillingness to answer a question and his apparent physical anxiety after the question was asked. The prosecutors said that because the man didn't want to answer the question, he was likely guilty.

The jury convicted the man, and the Supreme Court will decide on the case by June. A decision in the case could have far reaching impacts, including right here in Milwaukee. It could result in changes in the way a person is questioned by police and what might be admitted as evidence in a trial.

It might be a wise decision for anyone who is being questioned by authorities to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney. They can help the person speak with authorities and make sure that their rights are protected throughout the legal process.

Former authorities and disability advocates are outraged after a man, who suffered severe brain damage as an infant, faced gun and drug charges after being set up by federal agents in the Milwaukee area. The man will now be sentenced in June, and according to a plea agreement, prosecutors will recommend probation for the man's alleged involvement.

Many people who are objecting to the prosecution of this man say he was taken advantage of by federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, who knew of the man's mental function. According to an evaluation that was conducted during the case, the man has an IQ in the 50s, which is about half of a normal IQ and puts the man in a mild or moderately disabled range for mental function.

When a person is charged with a crime, it is important that their rights are respected and that they understand their rights. Sometimes people don't understand what they might have done wrong or what rights they have when speaking with authorities because of a mental disability. An experienced criminal defense attorney can help Milwaukee area residents understand their rights and protect those who aren't able to understand their rights.

It is important that criminal defense attorneys help a person through the future legal proceedings of their case, but also help them evaluate how they were treated during an investigation and arrest. If a person is mistreated, it is possible that evidence in their case was compromised, which could result in a wrongful conviction.

Milwaukee police say they have arrested a man that allegedly stabbed a police officer in a state office building. The man is a 25-year-old West Allis resident and police are not saying why they believe the man was the person who stabbed the officer. He allegedly was in a confrontation with Capitol Police when they say he stabbed one of the officers in the neck.

Police are not releasing any more information about the man's arrest. An investigation will likely continue and the man will probably be questioned by authorities. Sometimes when people are questioned by police, they might say things that could result in their incrimination. When a person is accused of harming a person in an authority position, investigations and prosecution might be more rigorous.

Anyone who is arrested for a crime might be wise to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney in Milwaukee. They can work to conduct an independent investigation into the alleged crime and make sure that authorities handle evidence properly and treat the accused person with respect. News stories sometimes result in publication of distorted or incomplete facts, such as one new source mentioning a hostage situation, which wasn't substantiated by police comments.

A person charged with a crime might face more than just a sentence if they are convicted of a crime. They could face severe damage to their future and problems reintegrating back into their community. Speaking with an experienced attorney, understanding one's rights, and working to protect their rights can help the person defend their reputation and hopefully clear their name of wrongdoing.

After the start of the New Year, Milwaukee County officials said they would increase drunk driving enforcement on the highways in the county. Last weekend, police in the county arrested 18 people on drunk driving related charges. One of the people allegedly fled from police and robbed a person before being taken into custody by police.

The man now faces charges of DUI, robbery with use of force and resisting/obstructing. The man could face nearly 16 years in prison if he is convicted. The passenger in the car that this man was driving is also facing charges, as police allegedly found a firearm on the man. He could face up to nine months in jail if he is convicted. While all these charges might result in different sentences, they are all extremely serious. If a person is arrested, they should understand their rights.

An experienced criminal defense attorney can help a person understand their rights and work to form a rigorous defense. The public nature of many arrests can result in a person losing their job, having difficulty with family and other personal matters, and might even influence a person's ability to find future housing. An attorney can help the person handle their legal matters, while recognizing the sensitive nature of their case.

In cases involving crack down campaigns, police sometimes make mistakes that could alter the outcome of a person's trial. A Milwaukee criminal defense attorney can help make sure all laws and procedures are followed during an investigation and throughout the legal process.

A man was recently arrested after police say that the man tried to entice a child for sex on the Internet. Police say they posed as a 15-year-old boy on the Internet, and later arrested the man. The man was a reportedly a director of a school district's food system.

Because the man likely worked in close proximity to children, his arrest was highly publicized. He will also be the subject of severe public scrutiny, even though he hasn't been convicted of a crime. People who are arrested for any reason might be wise to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney. They can help the person understand their rights and work with them to form a rigorous criminal defense.

Sometimes when people are arrested for online crimes, it may have been someone else using the person's computer. These crimes must be thoroughly investigated. An attorney can help a person accused of a crime investigate the evidence that police might have against them, and work to defend their reputation and record. If police arrest a person, and don't properly handle evidence, the evidence in the case might change, resulting in a wrongful conviction.

When a case involves a public official, the person might be under a lot of stress and prosecutors might be pushed to convict the person. This might influence a case, resulting in an unfair trial for the person. Understanding the rights of the accused and the different variables in their case are two things an attorney can help with.

Two men were arrested Monday after police say they were connected to a beating that resulted in the death of a 49-year-old man. They haven't been formally charged but police say they will refer the case to the district attorney's office today. When a case is referred to a district attorney, charges often come shortly after.

While a person might not be formally charged with a crime, they might still be wise to speak with an experienced criminal defense attorney. After an arrest, people should be read their rights. One of those rights it to speak with an attorney. Another is that they have the right to remain silent. Many times police will take note of things a person says, and put them in a police report, which can then be used to help prosecute the person.

When a person is facing severe charges, prosecutors will evaluate every report and gain statements from numerous witnesses to build a case against a person. It is important that during the course of those investigations, people's rights aren't violated. Violations of a person's rights could include improperly gathering evidence, or withholding certain information.

An experienced attorney can help a person build a rigorous criminal defense. This can help ensure the person receives a fair trial and evaluates all options that might be available to them. If a person is convicted of a crime, a criminal defense attorney in Milwaukee can help the person appeal their conviction and work to clear their name of any wrongdoing. Convictions can result in a person losing their job and experiencing unfair treatment throughout their life.

Police say the men forced a store manager into a cash room and demanded that she turn off the alarm and empty the safe. Descriptions of the men that committed the crime might have been difficult as reports indicate the people wore masks.

When a person is accused of a crime, they need to make sure they understand their rights before talking with police. Police might read a person their rights to speak with an attorney but don't offer to get the person an attorney. The person could demand they speak with an attorney. Authorities could also question a person before they are charged with a crime. Any information they provide police could be used to file charges or help convict them at trial.

It is important that people understand their rights, and an experienced criminal defense attorney can help them form a rigorous criminal defense. Not fighting charges could result in conviction that might make it difficult to find employment or housing after such a crime.

Sometimes witnesses might be used in cases that don't accurately tell their stories. Authorities might gather evidence improperly, and police might violate laws and procedures during an arrest. All of these things can influence the outcome of a person's trial. An experienced attorney can help make sure an accused person's rights aren't violated.
